Membership

SAVO was formed as a membership association in 1992 with our driving purpose being to actively support Suffolk’s voluntary and community groups.  We offer a range of member services at preferential rates, including:

A wide range of training courses including health and safety related courses in areas such as First Aid, Food Hygiene, Risk Assessment together with others covering subjects such as speaking and presentation skills, running meetings.

A Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure Service which is to be extended to include the Independent Safeguarding Authority’s Vetting and Barring Scheme once it starts operating in July 2010

Guaranteed copies of our newsletter “Members’ Briefing” and magazine “Suffolk Vollies” which are each published three times a year

Specialist advice and guidance on organisational and governance matters

Invitations to attend themed events of interest and relevance to you and your organisation

Option to have a link your website from the SAVO website

Staff supporting members on a one-to-one basis with independent and experienced advice and guidance

By joining SAVO, you join an Association of vital voluntary and community organisations that endeavour to tackle head on the County’s hardest issues. Networking and collaboration are key benefits that many of our existing members value most highly. However, there are also significant financial benefits if you wish to take advantage of the services for which we have to make a charge.

Membership ranges from £5 per year to £25 per year depending on how much income your organisation receives each year.

The savings you could make include:

For an Emergency First Aid at Work course, certificate and handbook a member organisation pays £60 whereas a non member pays £85

For a CIEH Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace course, handbook, exam fee and certificate a member organisation pays £50 whereas a non member pays £70

A CRB Disclosure check for a volunteer will cost a member organisation £7.50 as opposed to £12.50 for a non member organisation
