Get Sorted logoSAVO's Get SORT&D! Project has been running for over seven years and many groups have already benefited from its training programmes, one to one support, toolkits, e-learning programmes and tailor-made training and facilitation events. The project aims to help voluntary groups both large and small, newly formed or well established, to develop their services and become stronger and more flexible in meeting the demands placed on them.

The latest training brochure can be ordered by contacting the SAVO offices. Alternatively, you can look at our Events Calendar for all up and coming events in the next few months.

If there's a course that you are interested in, but you can't find any reference to it, please contact our offices and let us know.

The different strands of Get SORT&D! are:

A programme of publicised training courses – each year we run over a hundred different courses – a mixture of accredited and non-accredited short courses. The accredited or certificated courses are mainly health and safety related, run by suitably qualified external trainers and include subjects such as 1st Aid for the Appointed Person, Health and Safety, Risk Assessment, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling and Fire Marshal training.

The non-accredited courses cover a wide range of subjects relevant to people working or volunteering in the voluntary and community sector. These range from Running Appraisals and Supervision Sessions to Business Planning, Organising Events to Speaking and Presentation Skills, Managing Volunteers to Minute Taking and Committee Skills. These courses run in different locations across the county. If a particular course is not running but you would like to attend, please let us know and we will do our best to run it.

SAVO has recently become an Open College Network Approved Centre, which means that we can run OCN courses. We are currently running the Level 2 Managing a Voluntary or Community Organisation, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more details.

One to one courses – Many of our non accredited courses can be adapted and tailored to run “in-house” for a particular organisation. For example a group may have a new or relatively inexperienced trustee board or management committee. We could visit and run a session on roles and responsibilities for the organisation’s committee. Fees would be based on an organisation’s size and for a very small group it may be possible to run the session free.

Facilitating events – SAVO staff can come in as an outside facilitator and help a committee or staff group with discussion of a particular topic such as developing a business plan.

PQASSO and Investors in People Mentoring – SAVO can offer assistance to organisations undertaking these quality systems. SAVO has a qualified PQASSO mentor.

Resources -SAVO has also produced a wide number of resources that are either free or great value for money. These include:

Toolkits - published on disc or in paper form on the following subjects:

Self-Evaluation (Evaluating your management of people)
Policies and Procedures

Staff Management
Health and Safety

These cost £10 for the set of four, plus a bonus FREE Media Toolkit (also available as a website).  Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to order your set.

E-Learning Programmes on the web
- We have three FREE e-learning programmes on the web:
