The Compact in Suffolk is a guideline for voluntary and community organisations and public service agencies to better work together.
Suffolk has had a Compact since 2001. We decided to refresh and re-launch it after extensive consultation in 2005. The main Compact in Suffolk document is now underpinned by five Codes of Good Practice.
A launch event was held for the Compact in Suffolk and final Code of Good Practice (Funding and Procurement) on the 7th November 2007, in Compact Week. We were delighted to report that many key public sector agencies signed up to, or committed to sign, the Compact in Suffolk. We have also had a positive response from the Voluntary and Community Sector. The photo below shows a group shot from the event. Clare, Lady Euston, Chair of the Suffolk Strategic Partnership, and Steve Green, Director for Suffolk for GO-East, spoke at the event. This was an historic signing, as GO-East are the first Government Office for the regions to sign a local Compact!

The Compact itself is a way of working, driven by good practice and common sense. By committing to its standards, the VCS and public sector can work together in partnership, with a mutual understanding of each other.
