The initiative has uncovered projects that show how an organisation has taken steps to include people who might be at a disadvantage, or at risk of being socially excluded from everyday activities. These have formed case studies, which show examples of how an organisation has:
-
identified barriers to those who are at a disadvantage
-
drawn on a pool of resources to gain ideas and best practice
-
come up with an action plan to remove barriers and reduce the risk of exclusion
-
completed a risk and/or needs assessment
-
looked into and provided for training needs
-
measured the outcomes
-
been able to build upon this experience
By raising awareness and inviting organisations and individuals to share their experiences, others can learn how to engage diversity and make an impact on their operations, services and users.
The website aims to provide a co-ordinated sharing of diversity resources under one roof. The links to toolkits, information and models will help organisations to find a fresh approach to an underdeveloped area in Suffolk. The website will develop and expand, as more information becomes available.
The toolkit has been developed to assist organisations to engage diversity and show them, step by step, how to change and the challenges they could expect.
Diversity is not a 'flash in the pan initiative'. Organisations who embrace diversity will open up new services, customers and opportunities in their communities and will gain from a richer source of development ideas.
